BlueNC

This has been the biggest week for TCD in terms of readership and I guess a little controversy goes along way.

It all started when I produced the strip that supported the bloggers at the center of the Edwards campaign brouhaha. All of the sudden the Edwards supporters comes out and attempts to shout me down.And it all spilled over to BlueNC.

Originally I was going to run one strip on this issue and move on. Unless something gets a lot of attention, I typically don’t change the publishing schedule, but this was so over the top I knew I was going a follow-up with the idea of Two Jerusalems came to my mind.

Day Two: Templar John came to life in THIS strip where I wanted to discuss the backwards nature of the way Edwards handled this matter. John Donohue, a bigoted Catholic advocate, swiftboated Edwards and made Edwards call his two blogger’s work offensive. That was the disconnect – Edwards supports pro-choice legislation, stem cell research, gay adoption, civil unions and equality, all issues the Vatican dogma machine does not. Yet, Edwards can’t get away from the bloggers, who have written highly controversial pieces on Vatican policy, and suck up to the Church.

Well, DailyKos lost it’s mind over it and things went way wrong over at BlueNC. It wasn’t the BlueNC users disagreeing with me (and some dumping TCD from their blogroll) but it was the software glitch. To me and anyone else, it appeared the strip got deleted, but it was an “undocumented feature” of the software module that handles the post voting process that took the strip off the site. It was actually embargoed until an admin could look at it. So the strip was so popular (popularly hated) that the system dumped it all the way off the site from public view. Hell, I couldn’t even see it in my user management area!

So the rest of the day over at BlueNC was discussion about what happened. Was it banned for content? Was there a ghost in the machine? And on and on.

So come Friday, the folks over at BlueNC needed a well deserved break. I produced this strip for them.
